Generate Maple Flow Worksheets with AI coding assistants - Maple Flow

Generate Maple Flow Worksheets with AI Coding Assistants

You can generate Maple Flow worksheets with AI coding assistants, like Codex or Claude Code. These translate natural language prompts into structured, ready-to-use worksheets.

These instructions will help you configure your AI coding assistant.

Step 1 - Install Maple or configure Maple MCP

You will need either:

  • A local installation of Maple – recommended.
    • This lets you generate worksheets with images.
  • Maple MCP correctly configured with your chosen LLM.

If you do not have access to these tools, or would like to request a trial, please contact Maplesoft. These items are not included with a standard Maple Flow license and may require an additional purchase.

Step 2 - Get the calibration files

You will need three files that teach your AI coding assistant how to generate and layout Maple Flow worksheets. You can download the calibration files from the Maple Flow Application Center.

File 1
  • Either:
    • MapleFlow_Calibration_Notes.md for a local installation of Maple.
    • or MapleFlow_Calibration_Notes_MCP.md if you are using Maple MCP.
File 2
  • Simple Flow file with image.flow
File 3
  • Simple Flow file with image.pdf

If you are using a local installation of Maple, you may need to edit MapleFlow_Calibration_Notes.md to reflect the location of Maple. By default, the path is C:\Program Files\Maple 2026\bin.X86_64_WINDOWS\cmaple.exe.

Step 3 - Ask your AI coding assistant to process the calibration materials

This can be as simple as attaching the three files to a chat prompt and asking the AI coding assistant to “Read the attached documents.”

Step 4 - Start generating Maple Flow worksheets

You can now ask the AI coding assistant to generate a Maple Flow worksheet using a natural language prompt.

Example 1 Generate a Maple Flow worksheet with design calculations for a concrete retaining wall. Document the design standards and include a relevant technical image.
Example 2 Generate a Maple Flow worksheet to calculate the adiabatic flame temperature of methane in stoichiometric air. Use temperature-dependent thermodynamic properties.
Example 3 (After attaching an Excel spreadsheet) Convert this Excel spreadsheet to a Maple Flow worksheet.

Notes

  • The content of the Maple Flow worksheets generated by the AI coding assistant is determined by:
    • your prompt.
    • the AI model.
    • and the broad capabilities of the AI coding assistant.
  • Worksheet content is not generated by Maplesoft; this is purely the domain of the AI service you are using.
  • Check and review the generated worksheet content.
  • If you want your AI coding assistant to generate images and place them in the worksheet, you will need a local installation of Maple (as specified in Step 1).
