Why I chose the Maple™ Software to support the teaching and learning of Mathematics in ITE College East?
After 6-months of detailed consideration and preview of 3 main Mathematics software packages, I chose to buy licenses of Maple 10 from Maplesoft™ for my college in the year 2005. I was won over by its easy menu/palette-based usage and the comprehensive math tutor/assistant tools. I was also impressed by the excellent after-sales service provided by i-Math Pte Ltd, Maplesoft’s reseller partner in Singapore.
What the Maple 11 Software can offer
I was privileged to be attached to the Ubi Techpark office of i-Math Pte Ltd from Apr-June 2007 to use the new Maple 11 software to develop students’ notes, PowerPoint slides for teaching and a student self-learning kit. After exploring the new features, I would strongly recommend Maple 11 for mathematics lecturers and students in schools and institutions of higher learning.
As a math Lecturer, I discovered that it is very convenient to use Maple 11 to produce PowerPoint slideshows for my lectures. I also have the added convenience of many math symbols, expressions, tutors and assistant tools to enhance my teaching and make the lessons more interactive. When I was a student (BSc Maths-Silver Medal from UNISIM, Singapore Open University), it was very time-consuming and frustrating to arrive at a wrong answer after pages and pages of calculations. It is a dream-come-true that with Maple, students can now quickly and accurately solve complex math formulae or problems and eliminate all the stress that is typically associated with it.
