Why I Needed Maple to Make Cream Cheese Frosting

The dream of every math teacher is to hear their students say, "Wow, that's neat!" Maple is a delightful tool that can help you live this dream more often, even with kids who are not naturally good at math. In this presentation, you'll learn how to use Maple's amazing graphics and equation solvers to teach kids the beautiful visual connections between the topics they've already learned, to help them learn new concepts at all levels, and to give kids an appetizer for the math they will see in college.

We'll focus on applications that make learning mathematics fun. Examples include
• “Can a Square Roll?”
• “The Mathematics of Procrastination”
• "How To Avoid Being Asked To Move The Couch",
• "What If The Pythagorean Theorem Were Cubed?"
• "What Do Waves Have To Do With Triangles?"
• and, as promised in the title, “Why I Needed Maple To Make Cream Cheese Frosting”.
Attendees will receive copies of all Maple worksheets used in the presentation.
