A Maple procedure for the "method of steps" is defined that can be used to compute solutions of the scalar linear delay differential equation

diff(x(t), t) = a(t)*x(t)+b(t)*x(t-h)

with constant delay h > 0, where a(t) and b(t) are continuous functions for t >= 0.  Five examples illustrate the procedure.
