Contributed Sessions

Contributed Sessions - Maple Conference 2005 These sessions offer fully peer-reviewed papers from many disciplines and from around the world. Topics include:
  • Applications in physical sciences, engineering, and industry
  • Maple, MapleNet, and Maple T.A. in education and e-learning
  • Mathematical research and advanced applications

Poster Session

As part of the contributed sessions, the Poster session will offer summaries of interesting works from many disciplines. In addition, special posters presented by Maplesoft development staff will offer a look inside the technology of the products.

Maple Techniques in Industry and Engineering

These sessions offer informative to powerful techniques for managing industrial problems. Topics include modeling and simulation, technical knowledge management, and managing error in engineering calculations. These sessions are a perfect complement to the foundational information presented in the Training program.

Highlighted presentations

Dr. Janos Pinter
President, Pinter Consulting, Halifax Canada, and principal scientist for the Maple Global Optimization Toolbox. Topic: Global optimization techniques in industrial applications.

Dr. Helmuth Stahl
President, Expert Control, Munich Germany. Renowned authority in automated design of control systems. Topic: System identification and intelligent software techniques for control systems design.

Maplesoft Showcase

Demonstration sessions where you will see the latest products and technologies from Maplesoft. You will also receive the latest news and be the first in the world to hear exciting company announcements. This is your chance to preview the future of our exciting product line.

Chats

A unique dimension in the conference, the Maple Chats are informal meetings between users and Maplesoft’s senior technical staff. This is the ideal opportunity for you to meet the people behind the technology and gain a stronger appreciation of the inner workings of the products. Questions and open discussions are welcome.

The Power User Chat is intended for long-time enthusiasts and expert users. Moderated by Maplesoft R&D executives, the Power User Chat is one of the liveliest sessions in the conference.

Tech Chats are a series of smaller chat meetings focusing on specific topics. In the past, topics have included User Interface, Authors chat, Maple on the Web, etc. Specific topics will be announced at the conference.

Training Sessions

Free Training Workshop: Maple for Beginners

This hands-on session is the perfect introduction to Maplesoft products for beginners. Topics include:

- Introduction to the Maplesoft product line
- Maple: basic problem-solving, plotting, document processing
- Application topics
- Working with add-ons and toolboxes
- Introduction to Maple T.A. for testing and assessment applications

Optional Training Courses

These day-long sessions offer hands-on instruction. Courses are available for a range of product experiences. Note that courses are not included in the standard conference fee. See online registration for pricing.


Maple Fundamentals
Designed for new Maple users, this one-day course provides the knowledge you need to use Maple effectively in your technical projects. At the end of Maple Fundamentals, you will be able to use Maple to perform sophisticated analyses in a wide range of applications and capture the underlying knowledge in interactive reports. Advanced Maple Usage
This one-day sequel to Maple Fundamentals shows you how to take Maple to the limit. At the end of Advanced Maple Usage, you will be able to build complex models and integrate them with external software tools and data sources. You will also be able to design Maple-powered desktop applications that others can run in a point-and-click environment without any knowledge of Maple syntax. See Detailed Topics

Advanced Application Development
This one-day course shows you how to deploy Maple applications to the people who can benefit from them, including those who don’t know Maple or don’t have Maple on their machines. At the end of Advanced Application Development, you will be able to create robust Maple packages and deploy them as desktop applications, Web applications, Excel spreadsheets, and subroutines inside compiled code.
