Surfaces in Other Coordinate SystemsIn the first courses of advanced mathematics for engineering, It's teach usually the cartesian, polar, cylindrical and spherical coordinate systems, but exist various uncommon coordinate systems that it's very importat in science and high technology. In the mathematical modelling process, is important to know the essence of the coordinates involved in such systems. For example, in the cartesian coordinate system, x,y and z are linear measures, but not so in other system. In toroidal coordinate system, r is a radial measure while u and v are angular measures. In cartesian coordinate system, the "coordinate surfaces" are simply planes mutually othogonals while in other systems, these are surfaces.
