Introducing Modern Modeling Techniques to the Undergraduate Control Course

Maplesoft
February 22, 2010: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

It’s been almost a decade since the turn of the century and for the most part, the way we teach undergraduates fundamental and design concepts in control systems have remained unchanged for almost 30 years. Within industry, however, control systems design have emerged as one of the most important modern engineering techniques in the 21st Century, especially in key segments such as automotive and aerospace. For industry, control design today is about the design and deployment of embedded digital design logic on chips in electronically controlled devices (e.g. modern electronic fuel injection, stability control, etc.). Are we preparing our students adequately for this challenge?

This Webinar will be a survey of the realities in control systems applications in industry and a review of key techniques using MapleSim and Maple to enrich the curriculum. Examples from various industries will be provided.
