Mathematica 8 and Maple 15
IEEE Spectrum magazine, November 30, 2011

When speaking to the developers at Maple, I found them particularly proud of the program's new support for multicore processers, parallel programming for a cluster of local computers, and multithread computing, each of which can dramatically speed up large calculations. For example, they described problems involving sparse linear programming that were unfeasible in earlier versions but can be easily calculated in Maple 15....more

Design Engineering, November 9, 2011

In engineering research, detail is vital. Researchers must not only develop models quickly, but they also require in-depth analytical tools to help them understand on a fundamental level the intricacies of their models. Researchers at many academic institutions have adopted MapleSim, advanced physical modeling software from Maplesoft, as a key tool in their engineering research activities (see page 24 using link below)....more

Maplesoft: Play the Number Game on iPad
Desktop Engineering, November 7, 2011

In his popular blog in Desktop Engineering, Kenneth Wong takes a deeper look at the Maple Player for iPad. He says the player lets you play equations and mathematical expressions as though they were real-time animations....more

Using MapleSim in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Models Provides Insights and Options Not Possible with Traditional Tools

February 6, 2012

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) are an increasingly important tool in situations where it is dangerous or extremely difficult for humans to enter. In addition to military applications, UAVs are used in environmental surveys, agriculture, and disaster relief efforts, and are one of the most active areas of contemporary engineering research. In order to help researchers develop new algorithms for controlling UAVs under a variety of different conditions, Quanser Inc. developed the QBall-X4, a UAV experiment platform for research in UAV control and design.MapleSim™, Maplesoft’s modeling and simulation product, is a key tool for Quanser design engineers in developing the QBall....more
