Maple Helps Funds Managers with Computerized Financial Models |
Maple’s use in the finance industry was discussed in the cover story of the October issue of Wall Street and Technology Magazine. Igor Hlivka, Co-Head of the Quantitative Analytics Group at Mitsubishi UFJ Securities International, a large investment bank headquartered in London, England, talks about Maple in the context of financial modeling. He has been using Maple for the last 10 years at various stages of financial product modeling, design, prototyping, and implementation.
“What I like in Maple in particular is the intuitive logic. Maple knows how to handle sub-expressions and partial routines even if the process depends on numerical methods to solve it.” |

Maplesoft Application Briefs are a growing collection of key applications that show how Maplesoft solutions are applied to critical technical projects and interesting real world problems.
We have added three new application briefs:
3D Biomechanical Modeling and Stability Analysis of Bipedal Motion
The Control Systems Lab at the University of Arkansas
DynaFlexPro and Maple used to rapidly produce a stable bipedal model to study the sit-to-stand transfer maneuver. |

|
Pill Camera Flagellum
University of Waterloo
With DynaFlexPro and Maple, it is possible to perform a dynamic simulation of a segmented helical flagellum and animate the resulting motion in a fraction of the time it typically takes. |

Maple used for single-cylinder engine design to help EMAK achieve high efficiency - EMAK has employed Maple to develop new “clean” engines. Maple was used to simulate and predict performance and emissions, which plays a direct role in increasing the engine’s efficiency and reducing time-to-market. EMAK is an Italian company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of portable machinery.
“Using Maple, the engineers were able to drastically reduce the time typically spent on multiple trials and fine-tuning,” said Marco Ferrari, Engineering Manager of EMAK.
