Maplesoft’s Maple engine will no longer be sold by The MathWorks under the product name Symbolic Math Toolbox
For many years, The MathWorks has resold the Maple™ engine under the product names Symbolic Math Toolbox and Extended Math Symbolic Toolbox. These products were designed for high performance symbolic computations. As the partnership between Maplesoft and The MathWorks is changing, the Maple engine will now be sold exclusively by Maplesoft. This change will take effect September 28th, 2008.
For a limited time the Maple Toolbox for MATLAB is being offered free of charge. To learn more, click here.

The Maplesoft Application Center has changed!
The Maplesoft Application Center is one of the most popular resources on our site, with contributions from our members added regularly. It offers over 1,500 Maple applications, Maplet applications, tutorials, Maple PowerTools, MapleSim models, and Maple packages for free download. We’ve redesigned the App Center home page to include links to featured applications, and we’ve made the newest content easier to find. More changes are coming soon!
Add your applications! We’re always looking for new content from our members. Every application that is added to the Application Center is published in either the professional or the academic Maple Reporter.

Financial Engineers at Mitsubishi UFJ Securities International Use Maple in Multi-asset Product Development
The latest release of Maple offers quantitative finance professionals a platform for maximizing their productivity and efficiency, strengthening its reputation as their tool of choice. Maple’s powerful mathematical engine and sophisticated algorithms deliver a rich environment for modeling financial products and for process optimization. “In the world of financial options, analytical results are not always obvious, and testing for their existence can be a tedious and lengthy process. Employing Maple makes it very different; if a symbolic solution exists, Maple finds it quickly and correctly,” said Igor Hlivka of Mitsubishi UFJ Securities International. He recently developed a series of applications using Maple for multi-asset product development and for deriving semi-analytical solutions to non-standard options where multivariate stochastic processes play a determining role.

Introduction to MapleSim: The Next Generation in Engineering Modeling and Simulation
Tuesday, October 28, 2008 2:00pm EDT.

MapleSim is a modeling and simulation software that derives numerically efficient models of complex systems using an intuitive block-diagram approach to defining system models. MapleSim offers significant reduction in model development time and runtime performance from traditional systems. Distinct from traditional math and simulation software, MapleSim offers automatic derivation of model equations for more effective and engaging virtual simulations and exercises, dramatically more efficient models for real time simulations in research, and direct application to the emerging modeling problems in industry.

Control System Design With Maple & MapleSim
Thursday, October 30, 2008 2:00pm EDT.

In MapleSim, Maplesoft’s new high-performance multi-domain modeling and simulation tool, systems are described in a compact and intuitive component diagram, making them easier to build and understand. You can mix physical components from multiple domains with traditional, signal-flow blocks, allowing you to build both plant models and controller prototypes in one environment. With the cutting-edge physical modeling techniques in MapleSim, you simply re-create the system diagram on the screen and the equations of the model are automatically generated.
MapleSim gives direct access to the complete Maple 12 system, including its intuitive user interface, technical documentation tools, extensive library of algorithms, and its new Dynamic Systems package, a collection of analytic and graphing tools for linear time-invariant systems, essential in control systems development. From simple and intuitive model entry to insightful and complex analysis, this webinar will illustrate how these tools allow you to assess the stability, controllability and sensitivity of your control system designs.
