Minimum/Maximum of a Function

Description Calculate the minimum and maximum values of a univariate function.  If the function has multiple maximum or minimum values, or if the value cannot be determined for all $x$, try finding the minimum/maximum value on an interval.

Specify the function as an expression.

 > ${\mathrm{cos}}\left({x}\right){+}{2}$
 ${\mathrm{cos}}{}\left({x}\right){+}{2}$ (1)

Calculate the minimum of the function.

 > $\mathrm{minimize}\left(\right)$
 ${1}$ (2)

Calculate the maximum of the function.

 > $\mathrm{maximize}\left(\right)$
 ${3}$ (3)
