Translational Friction

Smooth friction between sliding bodies

Description The  Translational Friction component represents friction in contact between sliding bodies. The friction is a smooth function of the relative velocity of the two flanges. This friction approximates the sum of Stribeck friction, Coulomb friction, and damping. $F=d{v}_{\mathrm{rel}}+\mathrm{tanh}\left(\frac{{v}_{\mathrm{rel}}}{{v}_{0}}\right)\left({f}_{c}+\left({f}_{s}-{f}_{c}\right)\mathrm{exp}\left(-{\left(\frac{\left|{v}_{\mathrm{rel}}\right|}{{v}_{s}}\right)}^{n}\right)\right)$ ${f}_{a}=-{f}_{b}=-F$ ${s}_{\mathrm{rel}}={s}_{b}-{s}_{a}$ ${v}_{\mathrm{rel}}={\stackrel{.}{s}}_{\mathrm{rel}}$
