 Calling Sequence Decompose(polynomial)

Parameters

 polynomial - polynomial expression

Description

 • The Decompose command attempts to decompose a polynomial into a composition of simpler polynomials.

Examples

 > $\mathrm{with}\left(\mathrm{MmaTranslator}\left[\mathrm{Mma}\right]\right):$

Use the command with the Maple translation.

 > $\mathrm{Decompose}\left({\left({x}^{2}+1\right)}^{2}+5\right)$
 $\left[{{x}}^{{2}}{+}{2}{}{x}{+}{6}{,}{{x}}^{{2}}\right]$ (1)

Alternatively, you can use the FromMma command with the evaluate option specified.

 > $\mathrm{with}\left(\mathrm{MmaTranslator}\right):$
 > $\mathrm{FromMma}\left(\mathrm{Decompose\left[ \left(x^3+x^2+4\right)^2 \right]},\mathrm{evaluate}\right)$
 $\left[{{x}}^{{2}}{+}{8}{}{x}{+}{16}{,}{{x}}^{{3}}{+}{{x}}^{{2}}\right]$ (2)

Compatibility

 • The MmaTranslator[Mma][Decompose] command was updated in Maple 2017.
