Maple 13 Graphical User Interface (GUI) Updates
This page provides an overview of the following new and updated GUI features. These features are only available in the Standard interface.

<Text-field style="Heading 2" layout="Heading 2" bookmark="portal">Maple Portal</Text-field>
The MaplePortal acts as a starting place for any Maple user. The Maple Portal includes ten new tutorials on topics such as Plotting and Data Manipulation. From there, navigate to pages with more information for Engineers, Students, and Math Educators.
<Text-field style="Heading 2" layout="Heading 2" bookmark="PDF">Export to PDF</Text-field>
The Export as PDF feature adds the capability to export a Maple worksheet file to a PDF document. You can choose between exporting text in a graphical form (suitable for publication) or as text with the appropriate font specification, which offers smaller file size and searchable text when using a PDF viewer that supports that feature. This option can be set in the Options dialog.
<Text-field style="Heading 2" layout="Heading 2" bookmark="Dynamic">DynamicSystems context menu</Text-field>
The DynamicSystems context-sensitive menu allows you to apply many of the commands from the DynamicSystems package through the context-sensitive menu. The DynamicSystems context menu consists of four submenus: System Creation, Conversion, Manipulation, and Plotting. The commands associated with each of the submenus allows you to create System Objects, convert between different equation and matrix representations, analyze the dynamics of a system, and obtain plots of the frequency, impulse, and system response characteristics to a variety of inputs.
<Text-field style="Heading 2" layout="Heading 2" bookmark="NewTutors">New Tutors</Text-field>
New tutors are available for Numerical Analysis and Complex Variables.
The following Numerical Analysis tutors provide an interactive way to explore initial value problems and iterative linear algebra: Euler Tutor, Initial Value Problem Tutor, Iterative Formula Tutor, and Matrix Decomposition Tutor
Explore properties of complex variables with the following Complex Variables tutors: Complex Arithmetic Tutor, Harmonic Conjugate Tutor, and Branch Cuts Tutor.
<Text-field style="Heading 2" layout="Heading 2" bookmark="TaskTemplates">Task Templates</Text-field>
Over 50 task templates have been added or upgraded in a variety of ways. Some of the more notable additions and changes include:
Vector Calculus - 30 new templates, including templates for setting coordinate attributes in 2-D and 3-D coordinate systems, multiple integration templates for integrating functions over 2-D and 3-D regions, upgraded surface integration templates, and upgraded flux integration templates.
Linear Algebra - 10 new visualization templates that give syntax-free access to the visualization commands of the Student Linear Algebra package.
<Text-field style="Heading 2" layout="Heading 2" bookmark="HelpOn">Help On context menu</Text-field>
There is now a context-sensitive menu item that gives you direct access to the Help System. When you click on a command or word recognized by the Help System within a worksheet, you can press [F2] (Control+?, Macintosh) to go immediately to the help page for that topic. Or, you can simply click on that item and select Help On Command from the context menu. For more information see Help On.
<Text-field style="Heading 2" layout="Heading 2" bookmark="EquationManipulator">Equation Manipulator Assistant</Text-field>
The Equation Manipulator enables you to interactively perform a series of operations on an equation. This assistant, previously accessible through the context menu, is now also available in the Assistants menu. See Equation Manipulator for details.
<Text-field style="Heading 2" layout="Heading 2" bookmark="Migration">Worksheet Migration Assistant</Text-field>
The Worksheet Migration Assistant enables you to convert a large collection of worksheets that have been written in .mws format (Classic Maple) into .mw format (Standard Maple) at once. You can select files for conversion by pointing to a folder of .mws files, or by entering a text list containing .mws filenames. In the conversion process, you can specify the output folder for the newly created .mw files. As part of the migration process, you have the option of converting your Maple Input to 2-D math. Access the Worksheet Migration Assistant from the Assistants menu.
<Text-field style="Heading 2" layout="Heading 2" bookmark="Combined">User Manual and Programming Guides</Text-field>
Access all of Maple's manuals within the Help System. The Maple Introductory and Advanced Programming Guides are now available in the Help System. Additionally, the Maple Getting Started Guide and Maple User Manual have been consolidated into one volume. Information from the previous Getting Started Guide is found in Chapter 1 of the new User Manual, and a new chapter on creating documents in Maple has been added.
<Text-field style="Heading 2" layout="Heading 2" bookmark="MathML">Copy as MathML menu item</Text-field>
The Copy as MathML feature allows you to select a math expression in Maple and copy it to the clipboard as a MathML-encoded expression. It can then be pasted directly into another application that supports the MathML language. This feature can be accessed through the Edit menu or the context-sensitive menus by selecting the math expression and then choose Copy as MathML from the context menu.
