There are two ways to force grade an active assignment:

  • From the gradebook
  • From the assignments menu

To force the grading of an assignment:

  1. From the Class Homepage, select the Gradebook.
  1. Select Class Grades.
  1. Select the Assignment name.
  1. From the Progress drop-down menu, select In Progress.
  1. Click Search to perform the search.
  1. In the search results, click the assignment name.

Note: A partial grade for an in-progress assignment is indicated by the ' symbol beside the grade.

  1. In the Assignment summary panel, the number of active assignments is listed. Click Force grade active assignments.

  1. A confirmation screen appears. The users that are currently taking the assignment are displayed. Click Force Grade.

Important: If a student is actively in the process of taking an assignment, by default those assignments will not be force graded. To force grade even those assignments, select the check box Force Grade All (Includes Active).

The second method to force grade an active assignment is performed from the Assignment Editor.

  1. From the Class Homepage, click the Content Repository menu.
  1. Select Assignments. A list of assignments will be displayed. For more information, see The Assignment Editor.
  1. Click the name of an assignment. If the assignment has active users, the number of active users is listed and there is a button to force grade the assignment.
  1. Click Force Grade.

Note: This option is only available for active assignments.

  1. A message will appear asking you for confirmation. Click Force Grade in the confirmation window.

Important: If a student is actively in the process of taking an assignment, by default those assignments will not be force graded. To force grade even those assignments, select the check box Force Grade All (Includes Active).
