Using Custom Libraries
Custom libraries appear in custom palettes in the MapleSim window. Custom libraries are indicated with an icon:
To control what palettes appear in the Library Components tab (
) of the MapleSim window, see Hiding and Displaying Palettes.
To share a custom library with others, put the .msimlib file somewhere they can access, such as a network drive. Then, invite other users to load the library in MapleSim.
Note: MapleSim must create files when it loads the custom library. Therefore, the custom library will not load if the .msimlib file is saved in a location that other users cannot write to. In this case, the user must copy the .msimlib file to a directory that they do have write privileges on, and then load the library from that location.
To load a custom library:
From the Tools menu, select Manage Libraries... .
Browse to and select the .msimlib file of the custom library that you want to display.
Click Open. The custom library entry is displayed, in bold characters, in the list.
Click OK. The custom library palette is displayed in the MapleSim window.
When you resave the custom library, the palette for the custom library displays the Needs Update icon (
), indicating it is out-of-date and needs to be reloaded.
If you have shared your library with others, they will also see the Needs Update icon (
) in their Library Components tab (
) and will need to reload the library to get the latest updates.
To update the custom library palette with the latest changes:
Click Reload (
) in the Main Toolbar to reload the palette for the custom library in the Library Components tab with the updates. (Alternatively, from the Tools menu, select Reload Library.)
Note: Reloading the library does not update the documentation for the custom components in the library. To generate the documentation for the custom library, from the Tools menu, select Create Library & Documentation.
For more information about custom libraries, see Creating a Custom Library.
