Measuring the Closest Distance between Two Parts

Measure the shortest distance between two parts in the CAD Workspace. A dimension annotation is placed at the location where the parts are closest to each other.

Distance annotations are not visible in MapleSim. They can only be seen in the Import CAD and Feature Detect windows.

To measure the closest distance between two parts:

Click Closest Distance ( ).

Place the pointer over the first part, and then click on it.

You will know you are over a part when the pointer changes to a small wireframe part icon ( ). Also, the bounding box for the part appears to help you identify which part you are hovering over.

Place your pointer over the second part, and then click on it.

Note: Press Esc to return the pointer to select mode ( ).
