Getting Started Guide with the FuzzySets Package

Release 1.0
Copyright (c) 2004 by Douglas Wilhelm Harder.

Welcome to the FuzzySets package. The FuzzySets package is a collection of tools for exploring fuzzy sets.

Requirements

Installation

Pre-installation Instructions

  1. Review the system requirements.
  2. If you have not done so already, extract all the files from the file FuzzySets.zip. Chose a location for these files, and place them in that folder. These instructions assume that this location is C:\FuzzySets. Substitute the actual location as needed.

Installation Instructions

  1. Copy the files FuzzySets.lib, FuzzySets.ind, and FuzzySets.hdb from the C:\FuzzySets folder, and place them inside the lib folder of your Maple installation. For example, on WindowsTM with Maple 8, this would be C:\Program Files\Maple 8\lib\.
  2. If you wish to save disk space, delete the files which were copied from the C:\FuzzySets folder.

If you do not have permission to place files in the Maple 8 directory, the files may be left in their current location.

Using the FuzzySets Package

  1. Start Maple.
  2. If you installed the fuzzy set files inside the Maple lib directory, Maple will automatically find this package. If you installed it elsewhere, then you will need to tell Maple where to find the new package. To do this, at the prompt, enter the command
    libname := "C:\\FuzzySets", libname;
    To have this package available every time you start Maple, put the preceding command in your Maple command initialization. See ?worksheet,reference,initialization for help.
  3. At the prompt, enter the command ?FuzzySets to view the top-level help page.
