The maplet plots and computes the area of a surface of revolution generated by rotating a function f(x) around the horizontal or vertical axis. The student enters a function f(x) and a range [a, b] on the x-axis, and selects the axis of revolution. The maplet plots the surface of revolution, and computes and displays the numeric value of the area of the surface.
