In this webinar, Will McNally of the University of Waterloo investigates the interaction between golfers and their equipment using a three-dimensional dynamic model of the golf swing. Using the four main components of the model (biomechanics of the golfer, deflection of the shaft, impact between the clubhead and the ball, and ball flight) and MapleSim, an accurate representation of a real golf swing is created. This model has the potential to uncover an optimal swing for a given club, or an optimal club for a given swing.
