To install and use Maple Toolbox for MATLAB, complete the following steps.
Ensure that you are connected to the Internet.
This product requires Maple 10.04 or later. To identify your Maple release:
To update to the latest Maple release:
This product requires MATLAB versions 7 (R14) or 7.2 (R2006a)
on Windows®, Linux®, and Macintosh® operating systems. It
is also possible to use MATLAB version 6.5 (R13), with additional installation instructions.
The changes to the path made in this section must be undone if you decide to uninstall Maple Toolbox for MATLAB.
MATLAB 6.5 should now recognize your Maple Toolbox for MATLAB 6.5 installation.
Maple Toolbox for MATLAB requires activation. You can activate
during the installation process or later. If you do not activate during
the installation process, complete the following steps to activate.
- Ensure that you are connected to the Internet. Activation requires an Internet connection (if the computer on which you want to install the application does not have an Internet connection, see http://www.maplesoft.com/support/Faqs/Activation).
- From Windows Explorer, navigate to the location of your Maple Toolbox for MATLAB installation. The default location is C:\Program Files\Maple 10\toolbox\MapleToolboxForMatlab.
- Go to the license folder and double-click the activation.bat file.
- Enter your purchase code. If you are activating behind a proxy server, ensure that you enter this information before clicking Next.
- Enter additional information. Click Next.
- A license file (MapleToolboxForMatlab.dat) is saved in the license folder of your installation. If you experience difficulties with activation, follow the instructions in the readme.txt file in the license folder of your installation. - Ensure that you are connected to the Internet. Activation requires an Internet connection (if the computer on which you want to install the application does not have an Internet connection, see http://www.maplesoft.com/support/Faqs/Activation).
- Change directory to the location of your Maple Toolbox for MATLAB installation. The default location is /home/usr/Maple10/toolbox/MapleToolboxForMatlab.
- Run the activation script located in the license directory of your installation.
- Enter your purchase code. If you are activating behind a proxy server, ensure that you enter this information before clicking Next.
- Enter additional information. Click Next.
- A license file (MapleToolboxForMatlab.dat) is saved in the license folder of your installation. If you experience difficulties with activation, follow the instructions in the readme.txt file in the license folder of your installation. - From the terminal, find the location of your Maple Toolbox for MATLAB installation. The default location is /Library/Frameworks/Maple.framework/Versions/10/toolbox/MapleToolboxForMatlab.
- Run the activation script located in the license folder of your installation.
- Enter your purchase code. If you are activating behind a proxy server, ensure that you enter this information before clicking Next.
- Enter additional information. Click Next.
- A license file (MapleToolboxForMatlab.dat) is saved in the license folder of your installation. If you experience difficulties with activation, follow the instructions in the readme.txt file in the license folder of your installation. - Ensure that you are connected to the Internet. Activation requires an Internet connection (if the computer on which you want to install the application does not have an Internet connection, see http://www.maplesoft.com/support/Faqs/Activation).
- From the Start menu, select Programs>Maple 10>Tools>Activate Maple 10.
- Enter your Maple Toolbox for MATLAB purchase code, hostname and hostid* of your license server. If you are activating behind a proxy server, make sure to enter this information before clicking Next.
- Enter additional information. Click Next.
- A license file (MapleToolboxForMatlab.lic) is saved in the license folder of your Maple 10 installation. If you experience difficulties with activation, follow the instructions in the readme.txt file in the license folder of your installation. Task 2: Stop the License Manager
From the Start menu, select Programs>Maple 10>Tools >LMTools. The LMLTools dialog opens. Under the Service/License File tab, click Configuration using Services. Click the Config Services tab. From the Server Name list, select the service currently being used. Click the Start/Stop/Read tab, then click Stop Server.Task 3: Start the License Manager Daemons
From the Start menu, select Programs >Maple 10 >Tools >LMTools. The LMLTools dialog opens. Under the Service/License File tab, click Configuration using Services. Click the Config Services tab. In the Config Services property sheet, enter or browse for the following:
Path to the lmgrd.exe file C:\Program Files\Maple 10\FLEXlm\windows\lmgrd.exe Path to the license file
Enter the path to the directory containing all of the Maple license files. Point to the directory only, not an actual license file.
C:\Program Files\Maple 10\licensePath to the debug log file C:\Program Files\Maple 10\FLEXlm\windows\log.txt
You can now use Maple Toolbox for MATLAB.
For Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, and Windows XP Professional, select the Use Services check box (recommended) to set up the daemons as a service. (This option is not required to start the daemons under Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows XP Home.) To set the daemons to start at boot time (recommended), select the Start Server at Power Up check box. Enter a name for your service and click Save Service. When prompted to save the service, click Yes. Select the Start/Stop/Reread tab, click Start Server to start the license manager daemons.
Task 2: Stop the License Manager

- Enter your Maple Toolbox for MATLAB purchase code, hostname and hostid* of your license server. If you are activating behind a proxy server, ensure that you enter this information before clicking Next.
- Enter additional information. Click Next.
- A license file (MapleToolboxForMatlab.lic) is saved in the license folder of your Maple 10 installation. If you experience difficulties with activation, follow the instructions in the readme.txt file in the license folder of your installation. - Go to the location of the FLEXlm utilities that are currently being used. For Maple 10, the default location is /usr/local/maple10/FLEXlm/UNIX/$PLATFORM where $PLATFORM corresponds to the operating system running the license manager.
- Enter the command
./lmdown
On 64-bit Linux platforms, you must enter the following command before starting the license manager daemon: Using the C shell: setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.1 Using the Korn or Bourne shell: export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 Navigate to the location of the FLEXlm utilities for your operating system. By default, /usr/local/maple10/FLEXlm/UNIX/$PLATFORM where $PLATFORM corresponds to the operating system running the license manager. To start the license manager, enter the following command:./lmgrd -c /license_file_path -l /debug_log

- Enter additional information. Click Next.
- A license file (MapleToolboxForMatlab.lic) is saved in /Library/Frameworks/Maple.framework/Versions/10/license. If you experience difficulties with activation, follow the instructions in the readme.txt file in the license folder of your installation. Task 2: Stop the License Manager
- From the terminal go to the location of the FLEXlm utilities that are currently being used. For Maple 10, the default location is /Applications/Maple 10/FLEXlm/UNIX/MAC
- Enter the command
./lmdown
To start the license manager, enter the following command:
./lmgrd -c /license_file_path -l /debug_log
where license_file_path is the full path to the directory containing the license files, by default /Library/Frameworks/Maple.framework/Versions/10/license.
Note: Point to the directory only, not an actual license file.
You can now use Maple Toolbox for MATLAB.
