Edit a Legend

Edit Legend Text

1. 

Double-click the legend to select it.

2. 

Edit the legend as though it were normal 2-D math input.

  

Alternatively, click the plot to display the Plot menu or right-click the plot (Control-click, Macintosh) to display the Context menu.  Select Legend and then Edit Legend.

  

To add a legend to a curve that does not have one,

3. 

Click the plot to select it.

4. 

From the Plot menu, select Legend and then Show Legend.

  

Alternatively, right-click the plot (Control-click, Macintosh) to display the Context menu.  Select Legend and then Show Legend.

5. 

Edit the default text.

Remove a Legend from a Curve

1. 

Click the plot to select it.

2. 

From the Plot menu, select Legend and then Show Legend to clear this option.

  

Alternatively, right-click the plot (Control-click, Macintosh) to display the Context menu.  Select Legend and then Show Legend.

Change the Location of the Legend

1. 

Click the plot to select it.

2. 

From the Plot menu, select Legend, Position, and then select the location where you want the legend to display.

  

Alternatively, right-click the plot (Control-click, Macintosh) to display the Context menu, select Legend, Position, and then select the location where you want the legend to display.

Legend Size

  

Legends vary in size, depending on the number of curves in the plot. There is a limit on the amount of space available for a plot legend. Therefore, if there are too many entries in the legend, some may not be displayed.

Session and Global Settings

  

For information on changing whether all 2-D plots are to be created with a displayed legend, see the Display tab of the Options Dialog.
