statplots(deprecated)/xshift - Help

xshift, yshift, zshift

Shift the x, y, or z coordinates of a 2-D or 3-D plot

 Calling Sequence stats[statplots, xshift](amount, plot) statplots[xshift](amount, plot) xshift(amount, plot)

Parameters

plot - plot structure amount - real number

Description

 • Important: The stats package has been deprecated. Use the superseding package Statistics instead.
 • The function xshift of the subpackage stats[statplots] shifts the x coordinates of a 2-D or 3-D plot structure by adding amount to every x coordinate element. Similarly, yshift and zshift shift the coordinates in the y and z directions respectively.
 • This function can be used with other plots in order to modify the display output.  It can also be used in conjunction with plots[display] to show various plots on the same axes.
 • The command with(stats[statplots]) allows the use of the abbreviated form of this command.

Examples

shift a plot by a 3

 > $\mathrm{with}\left({\mathrm{stats}}_{\mathrm{statplots}}\right):$
 > $p≔\mathrm{plot}\left('{x}^{2}','x'=-3..3\right):$
 > $\mathrm{xshift}\left(3,p\right)$

plot the shifted and original plot together

 > $\mathrm{plots}[\mathrm{display}]\left(\left\{p,\mathrm{xshift}\left(3,p\right)\right\}\right)$

a 3-D object shifted and scaled

 > $p≔\mathrm{plots}[\mathrm{display}]\left(\mathrm{plottools}[\mathrm{icosahedron}]\left(\right)\right):$
 > $\mathrm{plots}[\mathrm{display}]\left(\left\{p,\mathrm{xshift}\left(5,\mathrm{zscale}\left(30,p\right)\right)\right\}\right)$
