Plot Ranges

 Calling Sequence plot(f, x=low..hi, y=low..hi, options)

Parameters

f - function(s) x=low..hi - function argument and real range (range optional) y=low..hi - label for the vertical axis and real range (both optional) options - plot options (optional)

Description

 • The horizontal and vertical range specifications define the horizontal and vertical ranges over which the function(s) are displayed.
 • If no range is specified, a default range is used for the horizontal range. If one range is specified, this is taken as the horizontal range, and a label for the vertical axis may be specified by simply stating the name as a parameter, but not giving it a range. If the vertical range is unspecified, a suitable range will be deduced from the values computed.
 • The default range is normally $-2\mathrm{\pi }..2\mathrm{\pi }$ when f is a trigonometric function and $-10..10$ otherwise.
 • The low and hi elements of an axis range must be real constants. This includes numbers, plus or minus infinity and constants such as Pi and exp(4).
 • If either infinity or -infinity is included in an axis range specification then an infinity plot is computed.

Examples

 > $\mathrm{plot}\left(\mathrm{tan},-\mathrm{π}..\mathrm{π},-5..5\right)$
 > $\mathrm{plot}\left(\mathrm{sin}\left(x\right),x\right)$
 > $\mathrm{plot}\left(\mathrm{cos}\left(x\right),x=-\mathrm{π}..\mathrm{π},y=-1..1\right)$
 > $\mathrm{plot}\left(\mathrm{sin}\left(x\right),x=-\mathrm{π}..\mathrm{π},\mathrm{y axis}\right)$
