Parametric Plots

 Calling Sequence plot([x(t), y(t), t=range of t], h, v, options)

Parameters

 [x, y, range] - parametric specifications h - horizontal range v - vertical range options - (optional) plot options; see plot/options

Description

 • A parametric plot is specified by a list of three items;  the first two are real functions of a parameter, the third is the range for the parameter.
 • When used in conjunction with the option coords=polar, parametric plots produces polar plots.
 • Several parametric plots can be plotted on the same graph, by providing a set or a list of parametric plots as the first argument.  For more information, see plot.

Examples

 > $\mathrm{plot}\left(\left[\mathrm{sin}\left(t\right),\mathrm{cos}\left(t\right),t=0..\mathrm{π}\right]\right)$
 > $\mathrm{plot}\left(\left[{x}^{2},x,x=0..3\mathrm{π}\right],-8..8,-10..10,\mathrm{coords}=\mathrm{polar}\right)$
 > $\mathrm{plot}\left(\left[\frac{{t}^{2}-1}{{t}^{2}+1},\frac{2t}{{t}^{2}+1},t=-\mathrm{∞}..\mathrm{∞}\right]\right)$

The command to create the plot from the Plotting Guide is

 > $\mathrm{plot}\left(\left[\left[2\mathrm{cos}\left(s\right),\mathrm{sin}\left(s\right),s=0..2\mathrm{π}\right],\left[\mathrm{cos}\left(t\right),\mathrm{sin}\left(t\right),t=0..2\mathrm{π}\right]\right],\mathrm{color}=\left[\mathrm{blue},\mathrm{yellow}\right]\right)$
