geometry

 projection
find the projection of a given point on a given line

 Calling Sequence projection(Q, P, l)

Parameters

Q - the name of the point to be created P - point l - line

Description

 • The routine finds the projection Q of point P on line l.
 • For a detailed description of the point to be created Q, use the routine detail (e.g., detail(Q))
 • The command with(geometry, projection) allows the use of the abbreviated form of this command.

Examples

 > $\mathrm{with}\left(\mathrm{geometry}\right):$
 > $\mathrm{point}\left(P,2,3\right),\mathrm{line}\left(l,m+n=1,\left[m,n\right]\right)$
 ${P}{,}{l}$ (1)
 > $\mathrm{projection}\left(Q,P,l\right)$
 ${Q}$ (2)
 > $\mathrm{form}\left(Q\right)$
 ${\mathrm{point2d}}$ (3)
 > $\mathrm{coordinates}\left(Q\right)$
 $\left[{0}{,}{1}\right]$ (4)
