Approximate Definite Integral of a Bivariate Function

Description Approximate the definite integral of a bivariate function using a Riemann sum.

Enter the function as an expression.

 > ${x}{\mathrm{sin}}\left({y}\right){+}{3}$
 ${x}{}{\mathrm{sin}}{}\left({y}\right){+}{3}$ (1)

Specify the ranges of integration and the method of approximation, and then approximate the integral.

 ${12.00000000}{}{{\mathrm{π}}}^{{2}}$ (2)

Alternatively, you can use the Approximate Integration tutor, a point-and-click interface. There are two ways to launch this tutor.

 • From the Tools menu, select Tutors, Calculus - Multivariate, and then Approximate Integration.
 • Enter the bivariate function to be integrated, then click the following Approximate Integration button.
