Student[MultivariateCalculus][DirectionalDerivativeTutor] - plot or animate the directional derivative

 Calling Sequence DirectionalDerivativeTutor() DirectionalDerivativeTutor(f(x,y), [x,y]=[a,b], [c,d], x=xmin..xmax, y=ymin..ymax, z=zmin..zmax)

Parameters

 f(x, y) - (optional) algebraic function in two variables [x, y] - (optional) name of the variables [a, b] - (optional) point at which the gradient is evaluated [c, d] - (optional) direction Vector xmin..xmax, ymin..ymax, zmin..zmax - (optional) ranges for plot

Description

 • The DirectionalDerivativeTutor command launches a tutor interface that computes, plots, and animates the directional derivative of a function.
 If f(x,y), [x,y]=[a,b], and [c,d] are not specified, DirectionalDerivativeTutor uses defaults.
 • The DirectionalDerivative command offers equivalent capabilities to DirectionalDerivativeTutor where interaction takes place in the worksheet interface. See the Student[MultivariateCalculus][DirectionalDerivative] help page.
 • To change the default colors of the plot objects, see the Student[SetColors] help page.
 • When the DirectionalDerivativeTutor is running, interaction with the worksheet is not possible.
