Matlab[det] - compute the determinant of a MapleMatrix or MatlabMatrix in MATLAB(R)

Description

• 

The Matlab[det] command computes the determinant of a matrix using MATLAB®.

• 

Since constants are considered one-by-one matrices, the determinant of a constant returns the constant.

• 

Executing the Matlab[det] command returns a float.

Examples

Define the Maple matrix

withMatlab:

maplematrix_a:=Matrix1,3,5,6,4,2,7,8,1:

The determinant of this MapleMatrix is computed as

Matlab[det]maplematrix_a

112.

A matrix is set in MATLAB®, manipulated, and the new matrix's determinant is computed

Matlab[setvar]matlabmatrix_a,maplematrix_a

Matlab[evalM]matlabmatrix_b = matlabmatrix_a ^ 2
