Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

How is a mathematics test validated?

Content validity is the first criteria, and the faculty of a college or university must determine the knowledge of techniques and concepts necessary for entry into a course. The test questions should be selected on the basis of local needs. “One size fits all” should never be the rule, and inflexible test packages (that is, test packages that cannot be adapted to local needs) are inappropriate. After a valid set of questions has been selected, then the results of students based on cut-off scores should be tracked.
