This model examines the vibration response when a large mass, with a tuned mass damper attached, is excited by a sinusoidal force at the natural frequency of the primary spring-mass-damper. The resulting response shows how a tuned mass damper with optimal parameters can effectively reduce the vibrational tendencies of a significantly larger object.
This model is ideal for use in the engineering classroom to teach fundamental concepts.
