Lorenz Attractor

The Lorenz attractor, introduced by Edward Lorenz in 1963, is a three-dimensional system corresponding to the behaviour of chaotic flow. The map shows how the state of the system evolves over time in a complex, non-repeating pattern.

Lorenz derived the system model from the simplified equations of convection rolls arising in the atmosphere. This system has important implications for climate and weather prediction and other chaotic systems.
