News & Announcements

Maplesoft recently announced the release of MapleSim, the pilot version of a revolutionary tool that is expected to set new standards in the modeling and simulation industry. Distinct from traditional math and simulation software, MapleSim, a multi-domain modeling and simulation system, offers automatic derivation of model equations for more effective and engaging virtual simulations and exercises, dramatically more efficient models for real time simulations in research, and direct application to the emerging modeling problems in industry.

By generating model equations in symbolic form, MapleSim helps teachers to quickly demonstrate the connection between concepts and the underlying mathematical theory to their students. The key advantage of using MapleSim is that it lets users visually define physical systems using intuitive components that are much easier to understand than traditional methods. Compared to time-consuming and error-prone traditional signal-flow blocks, this approach saves hours, and sometimes even days. Students can now spend less time on model entry, allowing them to gain a better understanding and deeper insight into the underlying concepts driving the system.

Find out how MapleSim can help you in your physical modeling work. Join the MapleSim pilot program and get early access to MapleSim while providing your ideas and your experience to influence the next generation in modeling and simulation tools! To join the pilot program, click here.

Designing a More Effective Car Radiator
Author: Maplesoft
From the laws of thermodynamics, we know that heat transfer increases as we increase the surface area between the coolant and the radiator assembly. That said, the demand for more powerful engines in smaller hood spaces has created a problem of insufficient rates of heat dissipation in automotive radiators. As a result, many radiators must be redesigned to be more compact while still having sufficient cooling power capabilities. This application proposes a new design for a smaller radiator assembly, which is capable of dissipating the same heat as the original design, given a set of operating conditions.

MapleSim For Engineering Education: Innovations in Analysis, Design and Simulation

Tuesday, July 15, 2008 2:00 pm EDT.  Register here.

Currently in pilot testing, MapleSim is a modeling and simulation software that derives numerically efficient models of complex systems using an intuitive block-diagram approach to defining system models.

MapleSim, offers significant reduction in model development time and runtime performance from traditional systems.  Distinct from traditional math and simulation software, MapleSim offers automatic derivation of model equations for more effective and engaging virtual simulations and exercises, dramatically more efficient models for real time simulations in research, and direct application to the emerging modeling problems in industry.

Introduction to Maple 12 for Academics

Tuesday, July 22, 2008 2:00 pm EDT.  Register here.

Maple 12’s unique blend of computational power and ease-of-use makes it an essential tool for mathematics and modeling. Its smart document environment provides revolutionary Clickable Calculus™ and Clickable Engineering™ techniques for solving problems from any technical discipline, ensuring that students are instantly productive and engaged. The results can be incorporated in rich, interactive, live documents that are as professional-looking as a textbook.

In this one-hour demonstration and Q&A forum, you will learn how Maple 12 is redefining math education and opening new horizons in technical research. By taking advantage of such features as interactive tutors, context-sensitive menus, expanded mathematical capabilities, and the new Exploration Assistant, see how teachers can bring complex problems to life, students can focus on concepts rather than the mechanics of solutions, and researchers can develop more sophisticated algorithms or models.

Clickable Engineering Problem Solving Part 1

Thursday, July 17, 2008 2:00 pm EDT.  Register here.

Maplesoft’s “Clickable Calculus” has introduced an exciting new dimension in calculus education. The idea of powerful mathematics, delivered through very visual, interactive, point and click methods, is launching a new generation of teaching and learning techniques in mathematics. “Clickable Engineering Math” continues this philosophy into the applied sciences.

In Part I of this two part Webinar, general engineering problem-solving methods are presented using clickable techniques. Drawing on application areas in mechanics, circuits, control and others, Maple is shown in a new light. Specific techniques including symbolic equation solving, differential equations and transforms, plotting and visualization, and units, will be covered.
