Complex physical modeling in less than two days!

Live Webinar in cooperation with the PennWell Group, moderated by John Keller, Editor-in-Chief for the PennWell publication "Military and Aerospace Electronics Magazine."

Upcoming missions to the Moon and Mars are triggering an extensive range of new design techniques and tools to deal with the emerging complexity of the required systems. This webinar presents an overview of modeling and simulation of space systems using physical modeling techniques derived from symbolic model formulation techniques.

To illustrate these techniques, this webinar will present the details of a recent initiative launched at the University of Waterloo (UW), in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), Maplesoft, and the Government of Canada. The project is to develop a full solution for the power management system of robotic rovers, which will be used for upcoming missions to the Moon and Mars.

Presented by Dr. Tom Lee, Maplesoft VP of Applications Engineering, and by Dr. Amir Khajepour, Professor and Canadian Research Chair in Mechatronic Vehicle Systems, University of Waterloo.

Announcing The MapleSim Tire Component Library!MapleSim Tire Component Library

Maplesoft announces an add-on component library for its physical modeling and simulation product MapleSim™.

The MapleSim Tire Component Library provides MapleSim users with industry-standard tire force model components.

In addition, linear and user-defined tire models are available to provide flexibility for investigation and analysis. With the easy-to-use point-and-click MapleSim graphical environment, these fully parameterized force models can be integrated into existing vehicle dynamics models by simply dragging the component into a diagram and connecting the component to the vehicle model.

New product from Maplesoft extends connectivity to tools from National Instruments

Maplesoft™ announced a product upgrade that extends connectivity to key hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) products from National Instruments™ (NI). In addition to connectivity to NI LabVIEW™, which was announced recently, this updated MapleSim add-on also lets users connect to the new NI VeriStand™ product. NI VeriStand™ is a ready-to-use software environment for configuring real-time testing applications, including HIL test systems. The MapleSim Connector for LabVIEW™ and NI VeriStand™ software integrates MapleSim's rich modeling environment into the popular LabVIEW™ and NI VeriStand™ real-time platforms. Engineers using LabVIEW™ or NI VeriStand™ can quickly develop and optimize complex engineering system models in the intuitive visual modeling environment of MapleSim.

“Through this collaboration, HIL testing and simulation will become faster and more convenient for our users,” said Chris Washington, Real-Time Testing Product Manager at National Instruments. “MapleSim’s high performance, coupled with the connector product’s ability to provide real-time simulation, will provide NI customers with powerful and efficient tools to address complex engineering processes.”

Maplesoft In The Press

Here are some highlights of this past month press coverage.

Higher Mathematics Made Easy
Cutting Edge Computing , Dec. 27, 2009

Extract: “When I’ve taught these subjects (mathematics), I’ve always stressed that they are both easier to understand, and more relevant, than people have been led to believe. I didn’t mean that as hyperbole, but rather as a firm notion that useful mathematics didn’t have to be obtuse and out of reach of all but the nerds. Maplesoft, with Maple 13 and MapleSim 3, have demonstrated that I must have been on to something.”

Software To the Rescue
R&D Magazine , Dec. 29, 2009

Extract: “The potential impact of a symbolically-driven simulations tool on the customer was anticipated, but what the vendor did not expect was the rapid way even larger industries would benefit from its capabilities. “In a nutshell, the way we approach it mathematically makes certain simulations feasible. Now the symbolic math is becoming fully mainstream, and there are really creative ways to apply that math,” says (Tom) Lee.
