Your Next Step Junior GUI Software Developer We are looking for a bright and highly-motivated individual to join our user interface team as a software developer at the junior level. In this role, you will contribute to the Maple system and have a direct impact on over one million users worldwide. As the ideal candidate for this position you are a recent graduate, or have one to two years of software development experience. You have excellent problem-solving and communications skills. In this role, your responsibilities will include: Developing new or enhanced user interface features for the Maple worksheet using Java. Analyzing requirements, developing prototypes where necessary, and carrying through with the design, implementation, and unit testing of application features. Helping to maintain the team’s build and test processes. Experience and Qualifications The successful candidate for this role will possess the following qualifications: A university degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. Have recently graduated, or have one to two years of hands-on experience. Familiarity with object-oriented design techniques and design patterns. Strong communication skills “Nice-to-have” Skills and Qualifications While not essential for consideration for this role, the following qualifications are considered assets for prospective candidates Familiarity with one or more of Java, C++, or C#. Previous GUI development experience, preferably using Swing or AWT. Experience with OpenGL. Familiarity with multiple operating systems, especially Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
