Technical Writer/Editor

Tasks include the following:

  • Editing for grammar and formatting
    ·        Help pages written by developers
    ·        Manuals written by math, GUI, and kernel developers
    ·        Marketing material
  • Writing
    ·        Help pages based on product updates
    ·        Product feature summaries
    ·        Manuals based on GUI or programming features


  • Experience and Qualifications
    The successful candidate for this role will have experience or familiarity with the following operating systems and tools:
    • Windows
    • UNIX
    • FrameMaker
    • RoboHelp
    • Experience with markup languages: HTML, XML, LaTeX
    • Vi Editor in UNIX
  • “Nice-to-have” Skills and Qualifications
    While not essential for consideration for this role, the following qualifications are considered assets for prospective candidates:
    • Knowledge of university-level mathematics and computer programming
    • Editing experience
    • Experience with the following operating systems and tools:
    - FrameMaker
    - RoboHelp
    - Maple software for mathematics-based document creation
    - Perforce revision control system
