Transient Mechanical Vibrations of Mass-Spring-Dashpot-One-Degree-of-Freedom SystemsIn this worksheet, we have investigated the following:
1- We have proposed the use of Maple in Transient Mechanical Vibrations of General One-Degree-of-Freedom Systems.
2- We have shown that how Maple can be used to determine the response to almost any type of excitation for this type of system.
3- We have shown that how the analytical formulas are derived and plotted. This future is not available in numerical solving software packages.
4- By nature, analytical formulas are the key to many exact and approximate engineering solutions. Such formulas are extremely time consuming (possibly containing errors) to be derived by hand calculations, while Maple does this very fast and errorless.
5- We introduced this method for five distinct important excitations and an example of combinational excitation.
6- It is clear that the user of this worksheet can change:
a- The boundary conditions
b- The excitation type and parameters
c- The system's parameters,
to find the responses of many desired types of excitations of such models.
