Join Dr. Robert Lopez on Thursday May 29th at 10:00 am as he presents:
Redefining Math Education with Clickable Math

Dr. Robert J. Lopez, Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, USA, is an award winning educator in mathematics and is the author of several books, including Advanced Engineering Mathematics. For over a decade, Dr. Lopez has also been a visionary figure in the introduction of math technology into undergraduate education and has received numerous awards for outstanding scholarship and teaching.

During his presentation, Dr. Lopez will present the concept of Clickable Math™. This concept brings an exciting new dimension to math education; the idea of powerful mathematics delivered using very visual, interactive point-and-click methods is launching a new generation of teaching and learning techniques. Clickable Math offers educators a better way of engaging students so that they fully understand the materials they are being taught.  It responds to the most common complaint of faculty who integrate software into the classroom – time is spent teaching the tool, not the concepts.

Dr. Lopez will demonstrate Clickable Math techniques within the Maple 12 environment.

Join Dr. Laurent Bernardin on Thursday May 29th at 2:00 pm as he presents:
Innovations in Engineering Analysis, Design and Simulation

Dr. Laurent Bernardin, Chief Scientist and Vice-President of Research and Development at Maplesoft, is a recognized authority in the area of symbolic computation and has published numerous papers on mathematical algorithms as well as parallel and distributed computation. Laurent is an active member of the research community, serving on the editorial board of the Journal for Symbolic Computing and is regularly asked to serve on the program committee or act as referee for prominent conferences in the field, such as ISSAC (International Symposium on Symbolic and Algebraic Computing), ACA (Applications of Computer Algebra), IAMC (Internet Accessible Mathematical Computations) and CASC (Computer Algebra and Scientific Computing).

During this presentation, Dr. Bernardin will demonstrate, through the use of Maple 12, new methods for developing sophisticated mathematical models faster and more accurately than ever before. Maple 12’s collection of Dynamic Systems modeling tools are essential in dynamic modeling, control design, and signal processing. These tools add convenient frequency domain analysis, state space analysis, and more to Maple’s already extensive mathematical tool set.

Dr. Bernardin will also introduce Maplesoft’s new modeling and simulation product, currently in pilot testing. Be among the first to hear about it directly from Maplesoft’s Chief Scientist!

Both presentations will be at Drexel University. Space is limited. To confirm your attendance, please RSVP to hzunic@maplesoft.com using the subject line “Maplesoft Presentations at Drexel.” Please include the title of the presentation that you will be attending, in your message. You will be sent final presentation details, including location, by
email prior to May 29th 2008.
